Science and technology week - Find the scientist in you at IMMM SAS

It's here again! After a break of several years, the popular scientific-educational event "Find a scientist in yourself" is returning. On November 7, 2023, the doors to the scientific world will open at the institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, this time as part of Science and Technology Week.

A group of students of the United School of Novohradská from Bratislava made up mostly of natural science enthusiasts, Olympiad solvers, and chemistry club participants, will have a unique opportunity to experiment and experience the joy of discoveries in the real world of science! Enthusiasm for science is a great way to develop students' curiosity analytical, and critical thinking, which is an invaluable tool in their personal growth and education.

Four institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences participated in the 4th year of the event, namely the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics SAV, v.v.i., the Institute of Polymers SAV, v.v.i., the Institute of Chemistry SAV, v.v.i., the Institute for Heart Research CEM SAV, v.v.i.

At the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics SAV, v.v.i. students will learn what to imagine under the term "metal." Through simple experiments, they will discover the mechanical and physical properties of metals, as well as the differences between pure metals and their alloys. Observing the structure of metals and their alloys under a microscope will take them into the world of invisible details and allow them to understand their properties and behavior better. They will also explore the differences between heat-treated and untreated metals and their alloys.

Dear students, we hope it will be an exciting scientific adventure for you. You may discover new secrets of science and change the world in the future.

But don't forget that the journey of discovery and learning never ends !

We are looking forward to you.
