The subject of the investigations planned for 2010-2012 years is related with the determination and explanation of the correlations between plastic properties (including those superplastic) and the behaviour of acoustic emission (AE) generated in the processes of channel-die compression of magnesium and aluminum based alloys and their short fibre composites. There is provided that the samples of alloys and composites will be prepared at the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics of the SAS in Bratislava and that the mechanical tests of the compression in channel matrix with the simultaneous measurements of AE parameters will be carried out at the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of the PAS in Kraków. There are planned the investigations of the alloys and composites samples both before and after the pre-deformation by intensive strain methods of HPT (High Pressure Torsion) as well as of ECAP (Equal Channel Angular Pressing).
Particularly, the investigations are concentrated on the following problems:
- Identification of deformation mechanisms in ultra fine-grained (UFG) and/or nanocrystalline materials by the application of acoustic emission (AE) method
- Measurements of AE parameters and realization of spectral analysis of the AE signals •Determination of a microstructure homogeneity using the technique of ultrasound measurements.
